Client Description
My client, a rapidly expanding FTSE listed company based in the North East is seeking an experienced Internal Auditor to provide a new level of support to the business. You will be responsible for undertaking a programme of risk-based and procedural internal audits, in accordance with accepted professional standards, to determine compliance with Group policies and procedures, adherence to applicable laws and regulations and improve the effectiveness of the system of internal control.
Job Description
The postholder will be expected to support the development, delivery and promotion of an effective internal audit programme within the Group encompassing:
- Planning, organising and completing internal audits in accordance with the Group Internal Audit Plan, managing personal workload and determining priorities
- Assisting in the delivery and oversight of a programme of home-based compliance audits
- Identification of control and process weaknesses, documenting main control points and providing evidential support for report recommendations
- Provision of appropriate input on audit planning, design and methodology, data analysis, presentation and report writing
- Maintaining effective communications and relationships with management and staff in all areas
- Attendance at meetings and, when called upon, delivery of formal audit presentations
- Participation in wider Group governance and assurance projects/arrangements, as appropriate
- Acting as a source of information and education in respect of matters relating to audit.
Candidate Description
Applicants should have:
- A recognised qualification, either CCAB or MIIA
- A sound understanding of internal control and risk
- Supervisory experience
- Proven track record of planning and executing audits within required deadlines
- Ability to apply creative and constructive thinking in proposing recommendations for improvements to internal controls, procedures, and policies
- Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff.
