    FUNCTION
    To effectively manage the delivery of company contracts through the efficient distribution of targets and the monitoring and maintenance of acceptable levels of performance.
    To ensure that all assessors understand their responsibility in adhering to company rituals and routines.
    To ensure all assessors are disciplined and accountable for their actions.
    To ensure strict adherence to Company Policies and Procedure.
    To analyse the statistical information provided by the database and the Assessors and set clear targets and objectives supporting them as necessary to achieve these targets.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    To conduct routine planned spot checks on each assessor; this will either be through unannounced visits or telephone calls.
    To visit employers to discuss the issue of progression and their commitment to their employee’s training programme.
    Develop the business
    To effectively communicate company policy on rituals and routines to all assessors.
    To use effectively and maintain accurate records for assessor monitoring visits.
    To liase with the Lead Internal Verifier and the HR Manager and recommend additional support and guidance for those Assessors who do not meet the required quality standards.
    To identify any additional training needs for our staff with regard to their understanding and implementation of our policies and procedure. Then to either coach where appropriate or refer this to the staff training and development officer.
    To report all unsatisfactory assessment practice promptly and directly to the Lead Internal Verifier and the Head of Operations and Quality.
    To complete and submit a weekly report to the Head of Quality and Deputy Managing Director.
    To attend regional management internal verification meetings.
    To attend all staff meetings and address operational issues.
    To maintain the Company’s professional reputation with all external bodies and organisations
    To recommend suitable improvements to policies and procedures, and to pass these recommendations to the Head of Quality.
    To ensure that the Directors, and Senior Managers are always fully aware of all planned and present activities, producing a weekly schedule as required by company procedure.
    To produce a planner for projected and actual monthly monitoring visits to assessors
    To ensure health and safety requirements are met and individual equal opportunity rights are maintained at all times.
    To liaise with the marketing team regarding recruitment of learners to meet targets
    To liaise with the Head of HR regarding staffing levels to meet contracts
    To co-ordinate the supply of data to enable the IV/Managers to evaluate assessor performance
    To undertake such other duties as may be requested by the Deputy Managing Director or other Directors.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    The Operations Manager must, as a minimum, have five years recent experience working in a management position. In addition he/she must possess good interpersonal, management and organisational skills and have a strong personality.
    He/ she must have good negotiating and planning skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
    A sound knowledge of work-based learning, National Vocational Qualifications and a broad understanding of current LSC funding arrangements is essential.

    AUTHORITY
    To undertake initial disciplinary action with Assessors who fail to meet quality standard, i.e. informal discussions but recorded on records of contact.
    To liase with external contacts and to protect company systems and procedures
    To liase with College contracts manager and to protect company systems and procedures

    LIMITATIONS
    Not to exceed the cost budget for any item of expense without the prior approval of the directors
    Not to commit the company to any external cost or expense without the prior permission of the Directors
    Not to divulge any information or pass documentation regarding assessors, candidates, contracts, policy, procedure or our business to unauthorised personnel
    Not to alter or amend any documentation or policy or procedure without the permission of the Head of Quality or the Directors
