Full Description:
We are looking for a Production Planner on behalf of an Engineering client based in Sunderland.

You will be required to manage the daily production requirements of the company, maximising throughout, to ensure that customer requirements are met.

The successful candidate must have a good working knowledge of Access and Excel, and be able to work under pressure in a fast-moving, continuous improvement environment.

You will be responsible for the drawing up of production plans, working from a wide range of information provided by designers, draughtspeople, architects and engineers, sales managers and production controllers.

You will be measured against Forecast accuracy and out of life material disposals


Personal Qualities and Skills

You will need an analytical and methodical mind.
You must have detailed knowledge of the production process, so an engineering background is essential.
You should be able to use mathematical and planning techniques to assist in analysing and scheduling.
Interpersonal and communication skills are important in dealing with the wide range of people.
You should be able to present plans and requirements clearly.
Often, you will be working to a tight deadline, so you must be able to work accurately under pressure. You have to handle a mass of detail and relate it all to the overall process and schedule.

The responsibilities:

Provide daily and weekly production reports.
Generate seasonal and peak plans.
Accuracy of plan, efficiency, product availability and labour cost.
Take decisions impacting on service levels.
Contact with other departments, to build trust and manage expectations.
Manage inventory.

Skills & Experience

Sound knowledge of formal planning techniques
Understanding of operational processes.
Co-ordinates operations and resources within business unit.
Ability to quantify and know when to refer risk decisions.
